A
common problem with chrome plating is chrome burn caused by
high current densities. Chrome burn along with lap marks,
or smudgy wheel work, can be eliminated with special dry coloring
compounds called chrome rouges.
HR (86/80 Cotton Cloth) loose full disk buff is generally
recommended for buffing out chrome burn and BR (60/60 Cotton
Cloth) buffs are recommended for clean up and coloring operations.
The
following chrome buffing compounds are excellent for any metal
or plastic. Chrome is very hard and compounds designed
to buff chrome, but not break through a thin chrome plate
will color any softer material.
