Plastic
buffing compounds are formulated to give the range from high
stock removal to high luster.
Buffing lint can be a problem due to the static electric charge
built up during plastic buffing operations. Therefore, we
have incorporated static-free ingredients in our compounds.
The most popular buffs are full disk BR (60/60 Cotton Cloth)
buffs with one row of sewing around the arbor hole. Buffs
should run at 3,000 to 4,000 surface feet per minute. Buffing
pressure should be minimized to keep the heat low and prevent
burning or melting of the part. Keeping the speed low and
frequent compound application will assist the process.
