Steel
and Cast Iron are, by their nature, difficult to buff because
of their hardness and the variety of alloys. The advent of
sisal buffing wheels and finger buffs made with a combination
of cloth and sisal has made the buffing of ferrous metals
common place.
JacksonLea's proprietary cloth constructions and specialty
buff treatments have created new methods to buff ferrous metals.
Our sew pleat and hot pleat buffs are particularly good for
ferrous metals.
Polishing with JacksonLea abrasive belts with grits 240 or
finer prior to buffing can greatly speed up the finishing
operation. This procedure is generally recommended, but is
dependent on the quality of the steel.
